ELNA – Equality Library for Nordic Art music
Nordic database for gender equality in art music
ELNA – Equality Library for Nordic Art music – is a database of works by women and gender minoritized composers in the genre of Western Art Music from the Nordic countries.
The project is headed by KVAST along with other organizations and individuals in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. It will be marketed worldwide and will make repertoire by women and gender minoritized composers from the Nordic countries easily available to musicians all over the world. The database will thus function as a tool in our work toward increased equality in terms of repertoire on the world’s art music scene.
The marketing will help increase the number of performances by Nordic women and gender minoritized composers, as well promoting gender equality in the repertoire on the classical music scene in the Nordic region and in the rest of the world.
