Sophie Lacaze (b. 1963), France
Not beholden to, yet attentive to musical trends, Sophie Lacaze has
forged a unique and very personal aesthetic that attempts to reestablish
music’s original vocations – ritual, incantation, dance, connections to
nature – while giving a central place to sound and timbre.
She has composed around 70 works for various ensembles (chamber and
vocal ensemble, orchestra) and soloists.
She founded the French association of women composers Plurielles 34 in
2013, with the pianist Nathalie Négro.
